The 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction came to a close in Chennai on Thursday (February 18) with Chris Morris becoming the most expensive overseas buy in history of the T20 league. The South African all-rounder went for a whopping Rs 16.25 Crore to Rajasthan Royals.
New Zealand’s Kyle Jamieson was the second most expensive player in the auction, going for Rs 15 crore to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). While Australia’s Glenn Maxwell also broke the bank and went for Rs 14.25 crore to join Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers at RCB.
All eight franchises are now ready to battle hard in the quest to lift the IPL 2021 trophy which is expected to start from the second week of April.
