At the core of this collaboration is EVage’s first-of-its-kind concept for India, a unique EV stack that enables vehicle production at a fraction of the cost, space, and manpower required by traditional manufacturing models.

New Delhi: EVage, a commercial electric vehicle manufacturer based in Chandigarh, looks to solidify its place in India’s EV market through a vertically integrated technology stack. Recently, EVage entered into a joint venture with DG Innovate, a UK-based motor manufacturer founded by ex-Tesla executive Peter Bardenfleth-Hansen. Under this partnership, both companies aim to manufacture the world’s most efficient electric motor, boasting an impressive 98.5% efficiency.According to Inderveer Singh, Founder and CEO of EVage, “Our partnership with DG Innovate is about more than just creating a motor. It’s about leading the global electric vehicle revolution from India, where our technology stack and scalable production will allow us to make an impact worldwide.”

At the core of this collaboration is EVage’s first-of-its-kind concept for India, a unique EV stack that enables vehicle production at a fraction of the cost, space, and manpower required by traditional manufacturing models.

“We own our battery technology, our BMS (Battery Management System), our VCU (Vehicle Control Unit), and even the infotainment system. Everything is designed and developed in-house,” Singh said, emphasising EVage’s complete control over its technology stack. This approach allows EVage to be able to roll out an e-truck every 15 minutes.

Fast-charging battery tech for commercial fleets

EVage’s proprietary battery technology, which charges in just 20 minutes and offers a claimed lifespan of up to 12 years, has been a game changer in the EV industry. This technology, combined with DG Innovate’s motor, ensures that EVage’s trucks not only charge quickly but also operate with maximum efficiency.

“We’ve created a system where a vehicle can be fully charged in under 20 minutes, and our 10,000-cycle life warranty makes it the best in its segment,” Singh said.

Singh explained, “Our motor achieves an efficiency level of 98.5%, one of the highest in the industry. For comparison, Tesla’s motors have an efficiency of around 96%.” This innovation makes EVage’s trucks a compelling option for logistics operators looking to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.

Microfactories and industry 5.0

According to EVage, one of their standout features is their manufacturing model and the microfactory concept, which enables scalable production without requiring significant capital expenditure. “With our microfactories, we can meet customer needs for customisation while maintaining efficiency, flexibility, and low overhead costs,” Singh shared.

EVage’s manufacturing facilities, which are Industry 5.0-enabled, can currently produce around 2,000 vehicles annually. However, with the integration of DG Innovate’s motor technology, production is expected to ramp up quickly to meet the growing demand for efficient electric trucks in Asia.

India to lead the global EV market

India is positioning itself as a key player in the global electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing industry, with the recent partnership between EVage and UK-based DG Innovate serving as a progressive step in this journey. According to Singh, the collaboration aims to strengthen India’s EV production capabilities. “We’re not just building trucks; we’re laying the groundwork for India to emerge as a global leader in EV production and export.”

EVage, which has plans to expand its distribution to the top 100 cities in India, is also exploring export opportunities to international markets. The partnership with DG Innovate, known for its EV technologies, highlights EVage’s focus on leveraging advanced technology to scale production.

With a combination of scalable manufacturing processes and strategic global alliances, EVage is trying to position itself as a frontrunner in the evolving EV landscape.
