Mahindra eSUVs clock 30,179 bookings on Day 1
In November last year, the company launched the XEV 9e and BE 6 with only the introductory price of INR 18.90 lakh and INR 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. Prices for the high-end variants were introduced in January.
Deliveries are set to begin in the later part of March 2025 in a phased manner. For the Pack Three variant, it starts from Mid-March, Pack Three Select starts from June, Pack Two from July, Pack One Above from August and Pack One from August.
“Customers will receive their tentative delivery timelines within the next three weeks through regular updates,” M&M said.
Bookings for the both the models remain open across select authorized Mahindra dealerships nationwide and on the official Mahindra website.
“This strong demand underscores the confidence customers have in Mahindra’s UNLIMIT India vision—delivering innovative, world-class electric SUVs that offer a distinctive blend of luxury, performance, and technology,” said the company in a statement.
To charge the BE 6, Mahindra offers two AC charging options: a 11.2kW charger, which can fully charge the 79kWh battery in 8 hours and the 59kWh battery in 6 hours, or a slower 7.3kW charger, which takes 11.7 hours for the larger pack and 8.7 hours for the smaller one. These chargers are sold separately.
The Mahindra BE 6 will be offered in three variants: Pack One, Pack Two, and Pack Three. Customers can choose from two battery sizes: 59kWh and 79kWh. It will be available in eight color options: Everest White, Firestorm Orange, Stealth Black, Tango Red, Deep Forest, Desert Myst, Desert Myst Satin, and Everest White Satin.
The Mahindra XEV 9e offers two battery sizes: a 59kWh option and a larger 79kWh version, both driving rear-axle motors. The 59kWh battery is paired with a 231hp motor, while the 79kWh unit boosts power to 286hp. However, both batteries deliver the same 380Nm of torque. The 79kWh model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.
In terms of range, the 79kWh battery provides an MIDC-certified range of 656 km on a full charge, while the 59kWh variant offers 542 km. Charging options include either a 7.2kW or an 11kW AC charger, both of which must be purchased separately.
Mahindra’s electric origin SUVs are also expected to spearhead the company’s globalisation strategy for its automotive business. In an earlier interview, M&M had stated it is aiming to “scale international operations revenue by 2.5 times by FY26 and further onward”. However, the initial focus is on gaining a sizable presence in the domestic market.
Currently, automakers including Tata Motors, Mahindra, JSW MG Motor, BYD, Hyundai are in a race to take up the largest share of the electric PV segment. In CY2024, this market recorded 99,004 units, marking a year-on-year growth of 20% over 82,563 units sold in CY2023.
